Iraq has stopped importing gasoline and petroleum derivatives, including diesel and kerosene, after achieving domestic self-sufficiency, paving the way for Baghdad to become a fuel exporter next year. These projects are expected to save up to USD 5 bn annually in import costs as Baghdad seeks to raise the added value of its oil exports to 40% by 2030 and advance new projects, notably the Al-Faw investment refinery, with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. (Bloomberg Asharq)

The decline, amounting to 4.66%, affected most payment channels, including online transactions and ATM withdrawals. Cash withdrawals recorded the sharpest drop, down by 10.56% to KWD 6.8 bn from KWD 7.6 bn a year earlier—a decrease of about KWD 807 mn. (Bloomberg Asharq)

INVESTMENTS

  1. Banking and energy stocks weigh on Saudi market amid weak sentiment. The Saudi stock market continued its decline after recording on Monday its longest losing streak in two months, pressured by banking and energy shares as well as mixed corporate earnings. The downturn also coincides with a global sell-off and the postponement of regulatory reforms that were expected by the end of the year. Market sentiment has weakened as earnings season, aside from the banking sector, has fallen short of expectations. This comes amid a global market downturn and the delay in foreign ownership liberalization, previously anticipated by year-end. (Bloomberg Asharq)

In an interview with Asharq on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2025, Zingoni noted that energy demand in Syria is growing, and the company is interested in helping meet that demand. In an interview with Asharq on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2025, Maheshwari said the company is collaborating with multiple Saudi entities to achieve this goal. He cited an example of ongoing cooperation, noting that over the past two years, Honeywell and Aramco have been testing the NEP technology to convert naphtha into ethane and propane. The technology, he said, has proven its efficiency in converting naphtha into petrochemical products while offering significant capital cost savings. (Bloomberg Asharq)
